so this weekend at the pex summer fest, a lovely member of kostume kult came by our cabin and loaned us costume piece that we'd like tp mail back to you guys!

the accessory was a pair of voluptuous stuffed boobies. they were set aside for later use when there was more alcohol involved, we forgot and then when i went to return them on sunday, it appeared that i was too late.

Fire Spin/Going Away Bonanza/Potluck on Sean/Tash's Roof Sat. May 30th!

Hello Everyone!

As you may or may not know, Sean and I are moving to the lovely country of Japan for an entire year. Hopefully upon our return we will be loaded with cash, amusing anecdotes, and a substantial amount of cultural awareness.

So come spin fire on our roof this Saturday! May 30!
It is quite large with a lovely view of manhattan and often accessible by elevator.

Come bring food and drink! Let us toast to the city with a rousing potluck of camaraderie and inferno.

We live on 100 South 4th St (between Bedford Ave and Berry). It's acessible by the L Bedford Train and the JMZ Marcy stop, but the L is more straightforward. Our apartment is 4K, but most likely you'll just head up to the roof. Iif no one answers 4K, it means we're on the roof, and you're stuck at the entrance to the building till someone exits/enters. If you're REALLY in a pickle and no one's going in or out, call my cell (786-514-5015) or call Sean (214-534-5540). I'll run down and let you in.

Take the elevator (if working) to the 7th floor. Then open the unmarked door to reveal a set of stairs onto the roof on the 8th floor. God Speed. The staircase is down the hall, not the one right next to the elevator. If you have trouble finding it, just try all the doors, and pretend you're part of a game show!

One thing we do *need* is a decent set of speakers/boombox. I do have ipod speakers, but they are known to be pathetic and quiet. If you have a boombox that can be run on batteries (there's a lack of power outlets on the roof), you will be the king/queen of the evening and have every right to play whatever music you please. Even if it is something i don't particularly care for. What fun!

So if you have fuel, bring it. If not, use ours. We've got to get rid of every last drop. And whatever doesn't get burnt up is yours to take for a party favor!

Also, I've been informed to tell 'yall that we will also be celebrating our own LAURA DARRELL's Birthday Party. LD is a sorority girl, LA diva, chart topping Christmas caroler, fake latina, grammy nominee, and official Burning Man D List Celebrity or Higher. She will be pissed if we leave her out. So wish her a happy 22, won't ya? And if we're lucky, she'll serenade us with some lilting tune.

So yes, this is your last chance to hang out with us on our lovely roof as we leave the next morn on a Uhaul set for hauling our shit to Texas. Let's make something BURN!

Well keep Friday open, cause your favorite monthly bassfest is coming back to make it go boom all over again. We are keeping it 100% Brooklyn style this month with a lineup of 5 sick bastards who like to crush it with some deep, heavy hitting, hip-hop influenced bangers. Of course this hip hop is layered over erratic breakbeats and nausea-inducing basslines, but thats why you love our party.

This month:

CROOKED DISCO (Kestar and Morsy)

This guys are known for throwing one of the most exhilarating parties in Brooklyn, and they're gonna be bringing that same vibe to vB this month. Expect a whole eclectic mess of breakbeats, hip hop, electro house, funk, indie, and whatever else they happen to be enjoying at the moment. It's gonna get sweaty, but don't wory, the bar is close to the dancefloor

Also supporting these two are going to be the vB residents: Tektite, Cecil Grey, and Tarquin. They'll bring it like they always do, and keep it going from 10 to 5am. You'll hear it all, and can probably expect some dirty baltimore breaks and dubstep at the end of the night, o even if you have 10 things to do this friday, it'll be worth it to come in and shake your booty for an hour or two, beginning, middle or end.

Beyond the music, you can expect one of the most beautiful clubs in Brooklyn, aerial silk acrobats, cheap drinks, amazing not-cheap drinks for those who are so inclined, and amazing dancing.

Come out and enjoy, cause we're gonna kill it, and don't forget to say you're there for Vitamin B!!!

Water Containers Needed For Disorient Art Project: Watershed

Hello Burners,

Disorient is in need of your help. We are creating Watershed, a large scale eco-installation of empty water bottles donated by Burners that will evolve/amass at Burning Man as the week passes by. We plan to launch the first phase of this project at the FIGMENT event on Governors Island this summer and need your help in collecting empty water containers for the project. Help donate to this cause and turn your waste into an eco-art installation.

What we need:
We need donations of empty 1 gallon and 2.5 gallon water containers - please nothing larger and nothing smaller.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's true! We have a winner! Congratulations to Stacey Lane. Her flyer and ticket design will be used on marketing materials for Apogaea 2009.

If you don't remember the name, Stacey is also the one who provided us with our much debated Apogaea Theme. If you didn't particularly like her Theme, well, just wait until you see her design. It will blow you away. You'll be rambling about it for weeks!

We received a total of 6 awesome designs and ran it through a voting panel consisting of 15 judges. Artists were kept anonymous to avoid any favoritism. Criteria for our decisions included: originality, clever synergies of visual elements, creative communication to the community and image & production quality.

GENERATORS & QUIET HOURS

By popular vote from the community and the Apogaea board, there will be a mandatory "Reduced Hours and Quiet Hours" for sound/theme camps at Apogaea this year.

Reduced hours will be from 4-6am
Quiet hours will be 6am - 10am.

This means turn off all generators, and subsequently all amplified music. FOUR - count em 4 glorious hours of peace and quiet - well, at least 4 hours without the megawatts thump of amplified music. That's enough to get a good nap in.
Sound levels will be enforced with decibel meters.

Also don't forget we will be enforcing enclosed generators. Generator noise must not exceed 70dB at 10 feet - that's about as loud as an average passenger car. Any generator that is found to be in violation will be turned off until the noise issue is remedied with better enclosure techniques. We're not trying to be Nazis about this, we just need to make sure everyone is being respectful in such a limited, but beautiful space.

Bioluminescence is a Boat party on 3-floored, climate controlled, paddle-wheel boat with full sound and bar. Bioluminescence is a theme of aquatic, glowing and illuminated figures and art, an exploration of the crossroads bio and techno logical. Bioluminescence is a fund-raiser for the Kostume Kult and Disorient camps at the Burning Man Festival. Bioluminescence is a birthday party. Bioluminescence is a miracle of our natural and artificially enhanced illumination.

The party takes place on a Boat, called Queen of Hearts.
We will set sail from Pier 40 on the West side of Manhattan

The Creative Committee is now accepting creative grant applications for APOGAEA 2009. Keep in mind principles such as Leave No Trace, Participation, and Safety when imagining your creative piece. Cecil Grey will be our headliner this month, and as a special treat he will be premiering his new single “Yeah” forthcoming on Sub Swara's remix album. This breaks track is sick, I have been begging him to give me a copy since I first caught a preview in the studio. I fully expect this to break into the top 10 breakbeat chart.

Flyer Design Size - final size 5.5" x 4.25" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 4.75"
Ticket Design Size - final size 5.5" x 2" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 2.5"
File Formats - tiff, eps, pdf, and high quality jpg files accepted
Resolution - 300 dpi is ideal, but files must be at least 200 dpi
Submissions will be judged based on concept, execution & image quality

Currently Uncle Dave holds the very esteemed title of Gate Lead for Apogaea. This is not an easy job and we are ever so grateful to have him part of the Apogaea Family.

Dec.5 - Breaks and Electro in Brooklyn - Wavewhore & Udachi

This month we have a very special treat at Vitamin B. We have two very
talented New York producers who are pumping out some of the heaviest
basslines this city has to offer.

Wavewhore's high-energy DJ sets blend many styles of breaks from funk
to tear-out to tech into powerful and effective mixes for the
dancefloor. He has been remixed by 40,000 Wats and Screwface, remixed
D-Ranged, and had releases on many breakbeat labels such as Broke,
Electrofly, Bombtraxx, BreaksFM and Hardcore Beats. I have not taken
his latest track “More Life” out of my record bag since the day it
came out.

Udachi first came to my attention after I heard his monster remix of
AC Slater's Jack Got Jacked. Since then I have hunted down his other
remixes and productions and was blown away by all of them. Between
Udachi and his alter ego dj Brak, credits include remixing Panacea, AC
Slater, Lismore and Jason Tylers in addition to releasing on the
legendary Kniteforce records, and being remixed by Luna-C.

Anyone else here love 18th Century fashion and costuming as much as I do? Are there any 18th Century fairs or costume events in the US?

I'm putting on a Rococo costume event in New York inspired by the adventures of Baron Munchausen, featuring Baroque music, fashion shows, fencing, and performance art. It's a bit more difficult to dress for than my usual Victorian and 1920s events, but I hope I won't be disappointed!

Call for ACTORS

MOBILE ART PROJECT NEEDS ACTORS

With the exception of art cars, nearly all other art at Burning Man is statically located in one place. Hence, I am looking for actors to join in this great MOBILE ART PROJECT.

The DREAM VENDORS (working title) will be a guerrilla theater group with the mission of COMMITTING RANDOM ACTS OF THEATER AGAINST UNSUSPECTING DENIZENS OF BLACK ROCK CITY. There will be no stage, and there will be no mercy. We will have political, comical, whimsical, dramatical, sophical sketch comedy and/or improv that will occur whenever and wherever we damn feel like it.

This is, of course, a logistical nightmare of the first order. Therefore! Any actor committed to this project (or committed to another asylum) must also agree to camp together with the other Dream Vendors (camp location unknown at this time). The purpose for this is two-fold: First, cat-herding on playa time is a fucking come down and I am not willing to subject myself or any other sentient being to this task. (On the other hand, if you would like to do this and you are NOT a sentient being...) Second, it will give us an opportunity to rehearse, to improv, to break bread together, to drink and to generally stew into a cohesive troupe.

Who's in? What day do you plan to arrive on the Playa?

Please contact me ASAP. I will only do this if we reach critical mass, which I figure is about 2 dozen actors. Less than that and we're not likely to make this happen. If we don't reach critical mass, let's say 24 actors by May 24th, then I'll scratch the project.

A little background…

The Mayday Festival (AKA the 22th Annual Squatters Mayday Celebration) is held yearly in Tompkins Square Park as commemoration of Anarchist founded, international workers holiday, Mayday. The holiday is broadly celebrated in Europe as a commemoration of workers rights, the 8 hour workday, and the anarchist martyrs who died in Chicago the bring about those rights. Mayday also has significance as the ancient pagan celebration of fertility and the coming of spring.

For us here in New York, The Mayday Festival is a celebration of the vibrancy of our neighborhood, our city, and a celebration of our counter-cultural communities. It is also a salute to the victorious squatters of the Lower East Side who have transformed the radical dream, “Housing is a Human Right”, into 11 buildings of legal, tenant-controlled, affordable housing.

The Mayday Festival is a time for our communities to come together, to celebrate, to plot, to inspire. Let the cheers of Mayday’s crowd be heard throughout the city--Arts and Culture are ALIVE and well in New York!!

I'm Shien Lee, an event promoter in New York City - and I would like to invite all modern dandies, decadents, aesthetes, artists, thinkers, and dreamers to join us on February 8th and 9th for the 2008 Dances of Vice Festival in New York City! While our regular monthly events are grounded in the 1920-30s, the 2008 Dances of Vice Festival will have a distinctly neo-Victorian flair.

The Baltimore International Rhythm Festival, 12th Edition, returns to St. John's of Baltimore City on September 28th and 29th. St John’s is located in Peabody Heights/Charles Village at 27th St. and St. Paul St.

Since 1994, The Baltimore International Rhythm & Drumming Society (BIRDS) has brought together rhythm lovers, musicians, dancers and artists from all over the Mid-Atlantic region to celebrate local and international rhythm based music and dance.

This year's festivities include evening concerts on both Friday and Saturday, as well as workshops and daytime performances on Saturday. On Friday night, performers include Mz. imani and The Rhythm Shamans, the Sufi devotional rhythms of the SAMA Ensemble, and the Shamanic hip-hop, funky live set of Freek Factory. Saturday night’s performers include Mahiri Fadjimba Keita and friends, and Raquy and the Cavemen. Both evenings promise to be stellar, as all of these groups are considered to be some of the best in their unique style of rhythm based music!!!

Jaqui MacMillan, Mahiri Fadjimba Keita, Raquy Danzinger, Brad Sidwell, Sera, and Lisa Zahiya will offer workshops in drumming and dance, from beginner to advanced levels. It is our intent that all participants will find at least one workshop to meet their needs. Workshops will run from 12:00-6pm on Saturday and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. However we are asking for donations on a sliding scale of $3-$30. Please support the Work of BIRDS, and the work of these dynamic teaching artists, by giving what you can.

Captain Zorik's Lost Guitar

This is Captain Zorikh. You may remember me as having the fight scene with Jolie Voltaire at the Horned Ball a couple of years ago, or as the Death Star Repairman with Darth Luscious at the alt-Oscars party, or as the host of the Big Apple Convention's costume contest. I beg your indulgence for just a few moments in the hope that someone here may be able to help me.

There are 8 million stories in the naked city. Some of them intertwine and intersect. I am sending this message in the hope that in a week of entwining intersections, there can be just one more that can help me get my guitar back.

Captain Zorikh did it again. After an enjoyable evening at the Church of Pop website launch party (http://www.thechurchofpop.com , a very interesting event of multi-media art and entertainment), I headed home on the L train at about 12:15 with every intention of getting home and working on my Captain Marvel Culture website (http://www.captainmarvelculture.com). I had my Washburn acoustic guitar in its black Manny's Music gig bag on my back, but took it off so I could stand up and distribute a few flyers for the Big Apple Convention coming up on November 16-17-18 (http://www.bigapplecon.com). I sat back down when I was done and pulled out a copy of Avengers #191 to read for the rest of the brief journey. When I got to the Montrose Ave stop, I got up and walked out. I stopped at the deli outside the subway exit, and, after ordering a roast beef sandwich (lettuce, tomato and mustard, on a roll), I realized...I didn't have my guitar.

I rushed back down to the subway platform and told the token booth attendant (I'm sorry, I'll always call them that. Just nostalgic, I guess) who did yeoman service making phone calls to let the conductor know that I had left my guitar in the train and to see if he could find it. After an interminable wait, the word was...no guitar.

It's a very horrible feeling to realize one has lost his guitar. This guitar has been a significant part of my livelihood for the past few years. It is one of the few purchases I have made that has paid for itself, many times over. It has helped me get through rough emotional times and helped me communicate my joy with other people. I also ned it for a gig this coming weekend at Jeff Mach's Labyrinth http://www.wickedfaire.com/labyrinth/index.html
But also with the guitar was the case it was carried in, and in that case were extra strings, two harmonicas and a harmonica holder, a capo, extra picks, loose change from busking, and a dozen or so Watch This Space comics, various issues, for me to sell.

It was a dumb, simple, way of forgetting it. Such a significant loss for such a miniscule payoff.

So I guess three things could have happened. 1) a good Samaritan now has my guitar and is going through my extra strings, harmonica, loose change from busking (all the foreign coins and amusement park slugs that get tossed in) and dozen or so copies of my Watch This Space comics to find contact info to get the guitar back to its rightful owner or 2) they turned it in to a station attendant who will turn it in to the MTA lost & found or 3) they are keeping it for themselves, thus saving $350 on a very good-sounding guitar (despite some wear and tear). There is also the possibility that it was kidnapped by aliens, but that's not very likely and I don't accept it. If it had been taken for an "unattended package" then the train line would have been shut down and I would know exactly where it is.

So, over the course of this week I have met one person from my alma mater, the School of Visual Arts, one person who is an artist who regularly goes to the Big Apple Convention, and two people that I have known through William Shakespeare's Haunted House, and one who I first met in the SCA, then later when she was working at Belvedere Castle when WSHH was performing there, then again when she turned out to be a friend of a co-worker at Anchor Network, then again when she was waitressing at Veselka. With all these coincidences, I can only hope for just one more, the coincidence that one of you within the sound of my voice knows the person, or is the person, who picked up my guitar that I lest on the L train heading for Broadway Junction at Montrose Ave at about 12:20 in the morning of Saturday night/ Saturday morning September 23-23.

Covering ground from dubstep to jungle to South Asian inflections, Sharmaji’s tracks and sets are relentlessly fresh and inventive. He and Sub Swara resident, Dhruva, have also been doing some proper studio duty and their works will be featured on an Agriculture Records release (later this year) and in a full-on Soundclash set vs. Skull Disco (Appleblim and Shackleton) on the illustrious Mary Anne Hobbes BBC Radio 1 Show (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/maryannehobbs/) this month! Calling all drummers…. come and join us on Thursdays and be in the
Dance Parade on May 19th

This is a Brazilian Style drumming group that has played together for more than 5 years and has decided to take the magic that happens every week and introduce it to the general public. Batucada is a verb meaning drumming and is a Brazilian term for drum circle which is usually "Samba or Samba Reggae". We however do some other rhythms like Condombe' which is Uruguayan and Guaguanco which is Cuban, but it all comes back to Africa when you talk about drumming. We do also blend these rhythms with other instruments like electric guitar which gives the drumming a more song like structure and becomes what I can only describe as a "Funky Santana" Feel. We are also participating in the Dance Parade (We'll be providing the beat to move your feet) and will hopefully attract some more drummers to join us when we hit the streets. ReBoot is a newish Vegetarian restaurant which is related to Two Boots and has great vibe. They have lots of vegan and live things on the menu as well as offering the amazing pizza which does have some meat.

Jared the Tour Guide will be leading two FREE tours of Lower East Side and East Village Community Gardens, culminating at an art park that is having exhibits and refreshments.

Jared the Tour Guide will point out shopping, food, historical, and cultural points of interest along the way, as we experience the area's green spaces and grassroots community gardening on the new tour, from Blight to Blossoms.

There will be two tours on Saturday, April 28. The first will be from 10AM to about noon, and the second tour will be at 1PM until about 3PM.

The tours will start at the Liz Christy Garden on Bowery and Houston and will end at La Plaza Cultural, where there will be art exhibits, on 9th St and Avenue C. Take the F train to 2nd Ave or the 6 to Bleecker for Liz Christy Garden.

Free seeds will be distributed for planting in vacant lots, and bubbles will be released into the atmosphere. <B>Feel free to come dressed as a plant, flower, fruit or friendly garden creature.</B>

On a serious note

I'm not one to post all sorts of political stuff on boards but a House Resolution 333 has been proposed by Dennis Kucinich D-OH to impeach Vice President Cheney for 3 reasons.

1.) Knowingly bringing us into a war under false pretenses.
2.) Making unfounded connections between Sept 11 and Iraq.
3.) Trying to bring us into another war with Iran and violating our constitution and UN in doing so.

I tend to be very involved politically but don't usually ask friends to join in, but this time it is so important to send a message tot the people that represent us that holding the people to a higher standard the the elected officials is not ok. These people must be help accountable. If he is guilty then he will be impeached, if he is not then at least we will know that. I'm asking all of you to go to this site below and contact your represenative. http://www.house.gov/

I'm sure you get a lot of requests for such things but I have never felt it was more important to have our voice heard. Thank you for your time!

My First PDF!

Hello all you beautiful, dancing, hugging, loving, giving, happy people! I'm going to my first PDF (Playa Del Fuego) which will also be my first real burn. I have a bunch of friends going, but I had this idea that I might want to camp with a bunch of (or a few) total strangers! (Or even folks I only kinda know from around the scene but dont really "know") It would be a great way to immediately make new connections and spread the love. I could also camp alone to me more autonomous, but as a first-timer I thought it wise to be with a few folks with some experience.

Even if I do end up camping alone, I'm also looking for a ride there (and back) from NYC (or Brooklyn). What better way to turn Burner strangers into new Burner friends than a road trip!

Kostume Kult's 2007 Burning Man Camp

In the year of the Green Man, you are invited to join Kostume Kult in pursuit of a darker side of Oz. In our Emerald City follow the Emerald Brick Road connecting the different camps of Konsortium Village with its many strange scenes and twisted characters. We will mix inspiration from Oz with other fantastical films, Pink Floyd psychedelia, and your imaginations, offering endless possibilities. Participation is encouraged through themed costuming, décor, art installations, and imaginative shelters.

As always, Kostume Kult will transform burners with costuming, body paints and makeup but, in this green year, we encourage theatrical participation over consumption and the use of recycled products wherever possible. As darkness falls, the camp will glow green as we descend into the dark side of Oz culminating at our annual Thursday Midnight party where we fuse the Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and the random insanity that is Burning Man.

As a community, we will realize this vision together through hard work (no bystanders allowed!) and hard play. Rampant costume neglect has been reported. Boas, crazy hats, fishnets, hot pants and loud colored items of all sorts are complaining in numbers that they are not regularly being pulled out of storage. This could be partially due to lack of opportunity. None the less, it can go on no longer. We must put an end to dust collections accruing on pink wigs across New York City.

So, this idea has been bouncing around for a while and it is ready to be unleashed.

Costume Karaoke

Simple enough, right!?!
Highly likely.

The plan: Provide a place for the overt costumer and performer to let loose. With a revolving slew of hosts.

Here is the deal. I work at a bar and have the go ahead to make this happen on Sunday nights. We have the Karaoke set up, which was oddly enough broken recently. We now have a new one. I swear I had nothing to do with it.

What I am thinking: It would be great to have a chest of costumes to pull from so that even those random church goers off the street can come in and be transformed. Thus, allowing them to belt out a rendition of Whitney Houston’s I will always love you. Meanwhile, the rest of us can come in our playa finest. Honestly, it all wants to be worn more than three times a year. Even that one item that you are holding on to because you know it will be great with something, but you just haven’t figured out what.

What I am looking for: The costumed masses. And a bit of assistance pulling together a trunk full of costumes. I can work out an exchange for those who donate costumes/time/wonderful energy/show up decked out and fabulous.

Hi Kostume Kult,

I heard about you guys because the theme camp I am camping at is next door to your theme camp… You are at 8:30 and the Playground is at 8:00…

Anyway … I was wondering if you guys are going to have any costume workshops on the Playa? I am brining a glue gun, a bedazzler and some fabrics. I have not even used the bedassler before and am also a little stupid when it comes to putting stuff together.

Anyway I am getting more excited about BM each day… see you in Black Rock City and happy travels from NY…

DETAILS:

The cabaret laws in NYC are an infringement of our constitutional right to freedom of expression. Originally passed in the 1920s to keep the races from intermingling, the laws are now used to fine and close down clubs and bars, and are increasingly used to target the political and underground art related nightlife. As such, we're staging a large-scale, participatory art/dance performance to build public awareness and gain media attention about the cabaret laws. We hope that our efforts will build support for court appeals challenging the constitutionality of the law.

Looking for container/shipping space

hiya! i'm a tortoise that missed the boat on container space. a wonderfully tropical coconut bar needs a little help getting to the playa. If anyone knows of any other shipment vehicles heading to the playa, this starfish would be so grateful - coconuts for everyone and especially anyone who helps! it's not too much gear, just a rolling cart and some other fun accessories.

Pack a lunch basket and take a FREE ferry ride. The schedule is pasted below. If you know how to get to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, then you will have no problems. The Governor's Island Ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building next to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. The picnic is in Colonel's Row.

Participate! No spectators, only participants. Families with children welcome and encouraged to come out and play. Recreate famous picnics from art and literature. Invent new picnic games or bring out the old standards. Tell a story, wear a costume, recreate history, or reach into the future. Absurd pastoral behavior encouraged.

The Governors Island Ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building located adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry in Lower Manhattan. The ferry terminal is accessible
as follows:

By Subway
1 to Chambers Street and on Saturdays, a free shuttle will run between Chambers Street and South Ferry Station
The 4, 5, W, and R trains all go to lower Manhattan, but not exactly to South Ferry Station. You may have to take a bus, cab, or go for a walk to get to the Battery Maritime Building.

By Bus
M6, M9 and M15

By Car
There is no public parking at the Governors Island ferry building. See www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/htm...dpsites.shtml

Costuming, The Burn, and Silly Fun....

Greetings to the Kult of the Kostumed,

After lengthy searches across bulletin boards, websites, and various tribes I believe I have found the group of individuals I have been searching for. I'm planning what may be my first and only trip to the man (School just seems to be completely averse to scheduling around the burn), and I need help with a costume. I've been experimenting with ideas since late December, but I've hit a wall as far as my own technical ability goes. I've ruined two cloaks thus far trying to convert them into the pocketed madness that I envision for myself at the man. I'm seeking something Wizardly, but functional. A magical hat I can tuck my hair into, some form of sarong-ish/flowing bottoms, and an eye-covered cloak filled with pockets, nooks, crannies, pouches, and possibly gateways into other dimensions. I see that covering my main bit of daytime torso-wear: A fishing vest laden with compartments, much like the cloak itself, with a fannypack/utility belt. I’ve envisioned this outfit since I started reading about the man 4 years ago. The main problems I've been having are the actual construction of the outfit, and the alterations/additions that would make it suitable night-time wear as well.

This summer, I will be back east visiting my favorite strange folk of yester-year, meaning that I'll be in the Jersey/NYC area from about late May until late June. During this leisure time (I'm interning the rest of the summer at an ecological research lab with few freak-resources) I want to get my costuming together for the man as well as meet what appears to be a fantastic group of burners from my home area. I'm looking for any help that I might be able to get in my endeavors both costuming and meeting some fun people while I'm back east. In the spirit of the man, I'd be happy to trade whatever skills/resources/working power I have for help/suggestions/ideas/sentiments/slaps on the head that would be available.

What say you Kostumed folk of the tribe? Am I searching in the right arenas, or have I made a Burning faux-pas in my quest for burning-wear and like-minded individuals? If I have, please do not hesitate to say so, tis the only way I'll learn.
